ACH is the number of times the entire volume of air in a room is moved through the air purifier per hour. For example, an ACH of eight would mean that the entire volume of air in the room is moved through the air purifier 8 times in one hour. CFM, on the other hand, is a measure of the amount of air that the air purifier can move through itself in one minute. This indicates the air purifier’s airflow capacity and how quickly it can filter the air.
The number ACH (air changes per hour) needed to remove smoke and odor from a room is determined by the amount of smoke and odor being created. Each person smokes at a slightly different rate. The type of weed being smoked, how it is being smoked are contributing factors too. We have talked to many consumers and the numbers we use has come from customers interviews. They have estimated the level of air purification needed, and the calculator above reflects that customer input. The calculations are certainly not exact but give a good indication of air purification needs for people who smoke enjoy cannabis whether it be for recreation or medical purposes.
What our customers have told us is that one person smoking can do well with around 8 air changes per hour. A couple friends enjoying a joint are likely to need in the area of 12 air changes per hour. What we find is that as you add a smoker you also add a need for 4 air changes per hour. After the 20 air changes per hour level, it seems to level off with a maximum need of 24 air changes per hour. The 1000-gram 2 chamber filter is one of the largest odor absorbing filters we offer. The washable filter cell helps cut down on costs by eliminating the need to buy replacement main filters.
Maxum HEPA-420 is the marijuana odor-eliminating giant. It utilizes a thinner 2.6-inch HEPA filter. It has all the efficiency of any LakeAir HEPA filter, but it is thinner and therefore has a shorter replacement cycle. Heavy smokers should plan on replacing this $180.00 HEPA filter every six to 9 months.
The MAX-700-420 is the high power electrostatic table top model. The 650 CFM air flow is sufficient for most rooms. This unit includes a 300-gram Cannablend filter. The MAX 700 will quickly remove smoke from a room. Due to the Cannablend filter size you will want to run the unit a couple hours after smoking.
The Maxum-420 is our legacy model. This unit is fine for a single person in a small room. It will provide 275 CFM of air flow and decent odor control. Both the electrostatic filter and Cannablend are the same as in the MAX 700. This model uses a radial (propeller) fan. The Maxum-420 has two speeds Hi / Lo.
