Hanging Kits
LakeAir hanging hardware kits come with the hardware you need to suspend your LakeAir air purifier or smoke eater from the ceiling. Being we do not know how you will be hanging your product, we do not supply the piece of hardware that connects directly to the ceiling, ceiling support or other suspension point. We do include quick links that connect to the eyebolt kit that is supplied with each LakeAir installable product. There are also quick links that connect the eye bolts to the turn buckles and the turn buckles to the chain and the chain to your top securing hard ware.
Proper Way to Suspend a LakeAir Product.
The illustration to right shows the proper and safe way to suspend a LakeAir product from above. Note the following:
- The Eyebolt in screwed all the way in and the jam nut is tightened so the eyebolt cannot back out.
- The Quick Links are fully tightened to ensure they will not unscrew in case of vibration.
- The Turnbuckle is not extended beyond the threads, ensuring the full strength is not compromised
- The Chain is fastened to turnbuckle via a quick link.
- Always support LakeAir equipment by 4 separate suspension strands and 4 different suspension points.
- Each piece of suspension hardware added to these strands must be certified for a minimum of 200 pounds.
Each strand of the hanging hardware kit is rated for at least 220 pounds. Never use this hardware to suspend any person or any equipment that may hold a person. LakeAir Installable products weigh on average less than 120 pounds and can be safely suspended from above
Which Length Kit do You Need?
Hanging hard ware kits are sold by chain lengths. Each kit contains 12 quick link, 4 turnbuckles and a single length of chain. You will have to cut the chain into 4 equal lengths when you receive it. A 2 foot kit contains 8 feet of chain that should be cut into (4) 2 foot lengths. An 8 foot kit contains 32 feet of chain which should be cut into (4) 8 foot lengths. To be safe, determine how far below the point at which you are going to suspend the top of your smoke eater from the suspension point.
The assembly of 2 quick links and the turnbuckle extended so that turn buckle has full threads inside it has a measurement of 12 inches. So, your 2 foot kit will suspend the top of the LakeAir Smoke Eater 3 feet below your anchor / suspension point.
An LAFC-RC2 unit has an 11 inch height. so the maximum length you can hang the unit below the suspension point with a 2 foot hanging ket is 47 inches. Using the same kit you could hang a LA2-RC2 55 inches below the suspension point. LA2-RCs 19 inch height + quick link x 2 and turnbuckle 12″ + 2 feet of chain = 55 inches.
Remember often times you will not be able to hang your unit straight down. More often than not one or more of your suspension strands will be at some angle which shortens its overall distance down. It is always best to buy extra chain length to ensure a smooth installation process.
The beauty of using a turnbuckle is you can adjust the length of any strand by 6 inches. This allows you to level your smoke eater even if your suspension strands are not the same length.
