Description
LAAS-1600 HOC Ducted HEPA Smoke Eater / Air Purifier
We at LakeAir built the LAAS-1600 HOC for people who expect more from their air purification system. This ducted HEPA smoke eater quietly removes smoke, dust, and odors while remaining out of sight. With up to 1000 CFM of airflow, it delivers powerful whole-room purification without compromising the look or sound of your space. Whether it’s a luxury home lounge, an executive office, or a commercial cigar room, the LAAS-1600 HOC provides clean air worthy of the environment it serves.
The LAAS-1600 HOC is installed in an adjacent space — most often an attic or mechanical room — keeping your living or lounge area free of visible equipment. By using sound-dampened ducting and vent boxes, it provides a whisper-quiet purification experience that complements even the most refined interiors. The result is a powerful system that maintains both air quality and aesthetic integrity.
The LAAS-1600 HOC is a ducted HEPA air scrubber equipped with 12-inch duct adapters. This unit is designed for installation in an adjacent space such as an attic or mechanical room, allowing clean air delivery without visible equipment inside the occupied area.
Return and supply ducts connect directly to the 12-inch adapters located on the front and rear panels. Both round and rectangular ducting can be used, depending on installation needs. The illustration shows 14-inch square ductwork, which is the largest adapter size available for this model.
For best performance, we at LakeAir recommend using smooth, rigid ducting. Flexible ducting is convenient but its internal ridges create friction that restricts airflow and reduces system efficiency. A well-sealed, smooth duct path ensures quiet, balanced air delivery and the full 1000 CFM potential of the LAAS-1600 HOC.
Customer Example of using the LAAS 1600
A LakeAir customer set out to build the perfect cigar lounge in his home — a space that looked as good as it felt. To preserve the clean, finished look of the room, he chose to install the LAAS-1600 HOC in the attic directly above the lounge.
To reduce sound transfer, he constructed custom wooden vent boxes lined with rock wool insulation. Rock wool absorbs up to 98% of airborne sound, allowing the system to operate quietly and discreetly.
By placing the air scrubber in an adjacent space, the entire purification system remains out of sight while maintaining excellent airflow and efficiency. The LAAS-1600 HOC in this setup is managed by a Bluetooth speed controller built into the unit, giving the homeowner full control through a tablet. A simple schedule keeps the air in the lounge fresh, clean, and ready for use at any time.
LAAS 1600 HOC Filters
The LAAS-1600 EOC begins with our washable MERV-2 prefilter, part number 490051. This durable aluminum mesh filter captures larger airborne particles such as ash, lint, and dust before they reach the electrostatic cell and carbon filter stages. Designed for long-term use, it can be cleaned and reused for two to three years, maintaining steady airflow and helping the system operate at peak efficiency.
The main filtration stage is a high-performance electrostatic cell, which removes up to 97% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 microns — including cigar smoke, dust, pollen, and mold spores. This industrial-grade cell is built for continuous service and can be washed and reused indefinitely. Many LakeAir electrostatic filters have been in active service for over 40 years, a testament to their quality and durability.
To eliminate lingering odors and chemical vapors, the LAAS-1600 EOC is equipped with a five-chamber activated carbon filter, part number 499025. Each filter holds 2,750 grams of premium odor-absorbing carbon media, effectively capturing smoke odor, tar compounds, and volatile organic chemicals. In most environments, we recommend replacing the carbon filter every three to six months to maintain optimal odor control and airflow performance.
