High Volume Smoke Removal and Odor Control
The LAFC-RC2 Electrostatic is very popular in smoky environments like VFW halls and in dusty environments like money-counting and handling facilities, in the LakeAir line of air purifiers/smoke eaters. The unit is often used as a smoke eater in cigar lounges and home garages across the USA. The key is an all-steel frame and body that houses two 925 CFM Blowers. The electrostatic filter cell and carbon filter allow 1500 CFM of air to be drawn through them without the blowers turned all the way up .
LakeAir’s path to quieter units is to oversize the blowers and run them at a lower speed. This allows lower noise and longer blower life.
Lifetime Warranty: If you keep the maintenance up on your LAFC-RC2, including regular filter maintenance (at least 1 HEPA filter and 2 carbon filters a year. We extend the original 7-year warranty to a lifetime warranty.
The powerful dual E Cube blowers pull dirty air up through the MERV 2 Prefilter. This filter removes large debris and allows longer periods between cleaning of the main filter. The dirty air enters the ionizing section of the electrostatic cell where the dirt and smoke particles receive an electrical charge. The charged particles are then pulled through the narrowly placed collecting plates. The electrically charged particles crash into the collecting plates and are trapped there. Particle free air then passes through the activated carbon filter. The billions of pores in the carbon bed attract odorous gases and VOCs and hold them there. The now clean air is gently tumbled in the room below.

Low Draft Design
One of the biggest complaints about ceiling-mounted air purifiers is the drafts that can result. When we switched from the LAFC to the LAFC-RC2, we introduced a design to tumble the air out of the unit. Most commercial units blow the cleaned air straight down on the occupants below. A cold draft from above makes for a less-than-ideal experience in most cases.
Bluetooth Connectivity
LakeAir uses a modern ECM blower design. These blowers use less electricity and operate more quietly. We have added a layer of Bluetooth connectivity so that if you choose, you can control the LAFC by Bluetooth. The best way is to connect the LAFC to a tablet that stays near the air purifier. You can add your own and others’ phones there. The App (Smart Life) allows you to set schedules and preset instructions, i.e., turn on at 8:00 AM Turn off at 10:00 PM
All Steel Products Made in the USA
LakeAir Products, like the LAFC-RC2 air purifier, is made from all US steel. We bring the steel into our facility in Racine, WI. There, we cut the parts out of the steel and weld them. The electrostatic cells are made from American aluminum. Starting in the fall of 2022, we added a powder coat line, and now we paint the products here, too. This is a rugged, high-performance product crafted by American tradespeople and women, designed to meet America’s clean air needs.

LAFC-RC2 Cut in Sizing
The LAFC-RC2 cut is sizes are 47.75 inches long by 21.375 inches wide. The unit requires 11 inches of headroom. The images below show this clearly. Also note that the top of LAFC=RC2 is galvanized steel. If you like, you can order the cover in white or black vinyl-covered steel for an extra charge.
Ceiling Hung Mounting
Another mounting option for the LAFC is to suspend it from rods, as shown below, or use chains. If this is how you want to hang your unit, we suggest you order the unit with vinyl-covered steel for the top. Vinyl-coated steel is available in black and white.
Mount deirectly to the Ceiling
Another optiopn for mounting the LAFC it to use a bracet like this and attach it directly to the ceiling. The brackets mount to the LAFC then gives you 4 mounting holw toataach the unit to the rafters an a 24 inch center.
LAFC Wiring Options
Wiring a LakeAir air purifier isn’t difficult. However, because our products are variable speed, they have added wiring when they are wired to a switch box
- Wire Bluetooth Speed Control Module to a wall switch; this requires the connection of 5 wires from the Smoke Eater (Best Practice)
- Wire directly from the power panel requiring 3 wires with the Bluetooth control module in the smoke eater
- Standard power cord on the unit and the Bluetooth control module in the smoke eater
- Wired to the homeowner’s home automation system. Requires 5 wires from the Smoke Eater
- Wire a rotary Potentiometer in a wall switch, this requires 6 wires from the smoke eater.

The blowers in the LAFC-RC2 are rated for 60,000 hours of continual use at high speed. That’s 5.5 years of full-time service. Most customers will see 10 to 15 years of blower life with normal use. When it is time to replace that blower, you will find it an easy job with universal wiring blocks, as seen to the left.
We don’t use circuit boards or sensors. These Parts are more likely to fail within 5-10 years. Instead, we use simple panel-mounted switches that are easy to replace. We keep all parts in stock. When you need replacement parts, we will send full instructions. This way, anyone can repair the unit on their own without returning it to the factory.

The LAFC-RC2 Electrostatic uses a lower voltage system, which makes ozone emissions very small. With a carbon filter installed, the LAFC-RC2 has NO ozone emissions.
