How Much Air Purification Is Required?

To determine the volume of air purification required, we should establish some specifics about our needs. Here is a list of the major things we should know.

  • Size of space where we will be cleaning the air
  • Volume of that space in cubic feet
  • Type of smoke we will be removing
  • Commercial or Private  use
 

To determine the size of the space, enter the “length,” “width,” and “ceiling height” (if there are multiple heights, enter the average) in SECTION #1 of the calculator.  This part of the calculator provides us the cubic feet value we need to enter into section #2.

In Section #2 we will declare what type of smoke we are filtering. We chose a smoke type because various kinds of smoke may require different levels of air purification. For instance, cooking smoke requires much less filtration than the smoke created by smoking a hookah pipe. Below we have listed 8 different smoke types and the approximate amount of filtration each needs for your reference.

As we work towards deciding on what air to achieve a high level of cleaning at a lower fan speed and, thereby, purifier for smoke is best for our needs and decide if we need more than one unit, let’s take a little time to consider how much air purifier noise we may be dealing with.  Removing smoke effectively requires many Air changes per hour and a high air flow rate.  The more airflow we produce, the more background noise we create. Unless you don’t mind a very noisy smoking environment, you may want to consider adding extra total airflow airflow achieve a high level of cleaning at a lower fan speed and, thereby lowering operating background noise. 

We consulted with our blower manufacturer, Ziehl-Abegg, to produce a set of guidelines for increasing overall airflow volume, which will lower noise levels while achieving equal-level air purification. 

  • 25% lower blower noise levels require 46% more airflow volume.
  • 50% lower blower noise levels require 75% more airflow volume
  • 75% lower blower noise levels require 150% more airflow volume.

Budgeting a higher air flow should only be done if your Project Dollar budget can afford it. Most times you only need to run your system at high speed when you have extra smokers. If the area has extra smokers,  the background air purification noise may be less noticeable. Increasing the airflow in the system design is only a consideration. It may not be essential for your needs. We have customers where a quiet area is very important. Other customers are not concerned about the noise level of the smoke-removing devices. Base your decision on which is more important to you cost saving when purchasing equipment or quieter operation.

We have determined our air purification needs as a value of CFM. Now, let’s look at what filtration type will be the best for removing smoke from our environment.

Noise

Budget More Air Purification for Less Noise

Before we rush off and buy the cigar smoke remover, let’s consider another aspect of cigar air purification. 

Cigar smoke removal requires a high airflow rate (CFM), and high CFM often means loud fans. Unless you don’t mind a noisy environment,  you’ll want to budget for more CFM than the standard calculations recommend. This allows you to run the system at a lower speed, achieving the same smoke removal without the earache.

Here’s the how: We’ve worked with a leading blower manufacturer to understand the relationship between fan power, airflow, and noise. Based on their data, we’ve compiled a simple guide to help you choose the right system for your needs:

HEPA Smoke Filtration

Advantages and Disadvantages of HEPA filters

Advantages

  • They don’t have to be washed; they change out quickly.

  • They capture 99.97% of all indoor pollutants

  • These filters produce no ozone.

Disadvantages

  • The replacement costs $175- $250 for one or more times a year.

  • Discarded HEPA filters add toxic waste to landfills

  • The filter units typically have lower CFM Capacity.

HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters are highly effective in removing smoke particles and other airborne contaminants. It is designed with multiple layers of synthetic and natural fibers woven together to form layers of particle-trapping media. The filter design enables them to efficiently capture particles as small as 0.3 micrometers. Smoke particles can vary in size, but most fall within the range that HEPA filters are highly effective at capturing. In a study performed at the International Space Station, NASA established that HEPA filters are even better at capturing smaller particles.

Mechanical Process of Filtration

HEPA filters use three types of mechanical filtration to remove air particles from the air stream. The first method is impaction. When smoke tries to go through the tight weave of a filter, it is trapped. The second method is interception: When a smoke particle gets close enough to a filter fiber, it is caught and trapped. The third mechanical method is diffusion. In  the HEPA filter, diffusion causes the smaller particles to move out of the central air stream. The small particle matter moves slower and is more easily trapped by methods 1 and 2.

Air Flow Resistance

The dense nature of HEPA filters creates some resistance. To overcome this resistance, an air purifier should employ specially engineered blowers. LakeAir uses reverse-curve blowers to achieve the suction needed to allow the mechanical filtration process to be completed quickly. No matter whose air purification system you buy, be certain the blowers are strong enough to move the dirty air through the HEPA filter. 

Air flow resistance is measured in WG, which is the abbreviated form of the term “water gauge.” The amount of resistance is measured by the height at which the back pressure will pull a column of water up a tube. LakeAir HEPA filters create 1.0 WG, which means the back pressure is equal to the force required to pull a column of water up 1 inch inside a tube.

Maintenance Requirements

Regular maintenance and timely replacement of HEPA filters are crucial for optimal performance. Over time, filters can become clogged with captured particles, reducing their effectiveness. We recommend that a HEPA be replaced once a year for most home uses. Unless there is repeated heavy smoking a 1 year interval is sufficient. In the case of multiple smokers or continuous smoking, the filter replacement interval should be shortened to 6 to 8 months. Most cigar shops and lounges replace their HEPA filters every 6 months. For many of the casinos, we provide HEPA filters to replace these filters every 3 months.

Permanent Effective Smoke Filtration

A LakeAir electrostatic filter cell is made of high-quality parts and components. The filter is called a permanent filter because it usually lasts the entire life of the air purifier. We have many customers with smoke air purifier systems that have been in service for 35 or more years. These rugged filters should be handled carefully, but even if some damage is done, it can be easily repaired, and the filter can be returned to regular service. It is extremely rare for an electrostatic filter cell to be replaced. The main components of the cell are made from high-grade aluminum, stainless, galvanized, and tungsten steel. 

Electrostatic precipitator (ESP) filters have been around for over 100 years. This type of air purification technology uses electrostatic forces to remove particles from the air. It is most widely used to remove smoke from the air and is commonly used in power plants and heavy machining.  Here is how an electrostatic filter cell works: The ESP receives an electric charge from a power supply. The amount of electrical current varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.  The range of this current is between 5000 to 20,000 volts. LakeAir smoke removal air purifiers use between 5000 and 8000 volts. We use a lower range of voltage to help minimize ozone production.

How the Electrostatic filter removes Smoke

The smoke air purifier fan or blower draws dirty air into the filter cell. The air enters the first section of the electrostatic filter cell, called the “ionizing section.” A high voltage current from the power supply is sent down ultra-thin tungsten wires. These wires are only 0.005 inches around. There is no way such a thin wire can hold that much voltage,  so the voltage radiates from the wire and creates an electric field called a corona.  The dirty air is pulled through this field of highly energized atoms. The field charges all but the very smallest molecules that pass through it. The smallest molecules, like hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen, are too small to have an extra charge atom attached to them, and they fly through the corona field unaffected. Larger molecules like smoke and dust easily pick up extra charged atoms. 

These excited particles continue through the filter and enter the “collection plate section.” Because the particles have all picked up a charge from the corona field, they are now attracted to the collection plates by a strong electromagnetic pull. The charged particles fly into the collection section and eventually crash into the plates, where they are stuck until they are washed away. It is important to note that as more and more smoke and dirt particles are collected on the filter plates, the plate’s ability to attract more particles is reduced. For this reason, the filter plates must be washed regularly to improve the efficiency of the electrostatic filter. We recommend cleaning the filter cell every 4-12 weeks.

Washable Filter Save Main Filter Replacement Cost

The best thing about an electrostatic filter cell is its washing ability. Washing your filter can save you hundreds of dollars every month. Electrostatic filters quickly accumulate a coating of impurities that have been removed from the air. As this coating of impurities builds on the collection plates, their ability to attract pollutants lessens. Depending on how dirty the air is, the efficiency loss can be as much as 4% per week. For this reason, frequent cleaning is required.

 LakeAir electrostatic filters can be placed in a commercial or home dishwasher. Run the dishwasher on a heavy-duty wash cycle. It is OK to wash both the electrostatic and pre-filter together. Do not wash filter cells with other dishes. If the dishwasher has a dry cycle, it is a good idea to use it. Soaking the filter in a tub of hot water and degreaser for 15 – 30 minutes and then rinsing and drying is a suitable alternative to the dishwasher method.

MERV 15 Smoke Filters

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • MERV 15 filters allow a significant amount of fine smoke to pass through them

  • MERV 15 Filters may have up to a 25% shorter life span as compared to HEPA filters

  • MERV 15 filters can not be recycled and added to landfill use.

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) 15 filters are high-efficiency air filters designed to capture very small particles, including those associated with smoke. The finer smoke particles may slip through the filter media. If your goal is to provide Very clean air the MERV 15 might not be the best smoke filtration option.

The primary reason people select MERV 15 media as a purifier for smoke is to save money on the cost of replacement filters. MERV 15 filters are about 40% cheaper than HEPA filters and have a similar life span. In heavy cigar smoking environments you would need to replace a MERV 15 filter more often than the HEPA filter.

Another reason people choose MERV 15 over HEPA filters is greater air flow. the MERV 15 filter will allow around 20% more air to pass through it. This isn’t normally a good enough reason to choose MERV 15 filters, but for some customers these advantages add up to enough of a reason to choose MERV 15 Cigar smoke filtration.

Smoke Odor Elimination

Removing smoke odor from the air is a second most important function of a smoke eater. Occasionally, customers will tell us that the removal of the odor is even more important to them than the smoke itself. Smoke particles are removed relatively quickly from the air. With proper filtration, media smoke is entirely removed in one or two passes through the filter. On the other hand, odor can require several passes through the carbon filter. Odor is removed by adsorbing the odors into activated carbon media. LakeAir includes a carbon filter in every unit they make. In this section, we will talk about how carbon removes odors and show you how to choose the best product for you regarding its carbon filter. 

How odor is removed in a carbon filter

After removing smoke particles, odor in gaseous form remains and travels into the carbon filter. In the carbon filter the odor molecules come into direct contact with the carbon crystals and are adsorbed. Adsorption occurs as odor molecules and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are physically attracted to the surface of activated carbon. Electrostatic interactions within the carbon enhance the adsorption process. It is this relationship between odor molecules and activated carbon that causes effective removal of odor molecules from the air.

Total adsorption does not happen all at once. It takes a certain amount of time for the odor molecule to be sucked into the carbon crystal structure. This amount of time is known as residence time. The longer odors are in direct contact with the activated carbon, the more of the odor is removed from the air. 

A longer filter bed is preferred for the best odor removal in a single pass. LakeAir smoke odor eliminators have a carbon filter bed length from 0.75 to 4.5 inches. The bed length dictates how much odor is removed in 1 pass; the weight of the carbon determines the total amount of odor that can be absorbed. Carbon crystals can hold a finite amount of odor. Once that limit has been reached, no more tobacco odor will be removed. It is time for a new carbon filter. The old carbon filter should be discarded. Regular filter maintenance is essential. The amount of carbon (in bold print above) is listed in grams. We use this weight measure because it is more exact, and it is also the measurement we use in manufacturing. The MAX Guard carbon filter contains 1000 grams of activated carbon. The corresponding weight in imperial units is just over 2 pounds or 35 ounces.

Next, we list the length of the filter bed. The filter bed directly corresponds to the amount of odor that can be adsorbed in a single pass. A carbon filter with a bed length of 1.5 inches will remove odor twice as fast as a carbon filter with a bed length of 0.75 inches. So, the MAX Guard unit will remove twice as much odor. It is reported that, on average, activated carbon can adsorb roughly 50 to 33% of its weight in odor.

Many smoke-eliminator manufacturers try to remain vague in product descriptions. They are more concerned about a sale than helping customers make informed product choices. The amount of carbon (in bold print above) is listed in grams. We use this weight measure because it is more exact. This is also the measurement we use in manufacturing carbon filters. The MAX Guard HEPA carbon filter contains 1000 grams of activated carbon. The corresponding weight in imperial units is just over 2 pounds or 35 ounces. The standard carbon filter with the MAX Guard -120  contains 2000 grams of activated carbon. The difference tells us the MAX Guard HEPA-120 smoke air purifier can remove two times the total amount of odor compared to the MAX Guard HEPA.

Next, we list the length of the filter bed. The filter bed directly corresponds to the amount of odor that can be adsorbed in a single pass. The carbon filter in the MAX Guard HEPA has a filter bed length of 1.5 inches. The MAX Guard HEPA 120’s filter bed is 3.0 inches and will remove odors twice as fast. With this labeling, you can better judge what is the best smoke removal system for you.

Fast Acting Carbon Filtration

LakeAir manufactures fast-acting carbon filters. In our filter design, we use a smaller amount of carbon placed directly into the air stream. VOCs are pulled through a three-dimensional field of activated carbon, greatly increasing the smoke odor removal rate. However, on the downside, the carbon volume is saturated more quickly, and there is a shorter replacement cycle. 

Suppose you want a longer filter life with a more gradual odor removal. In that case, you will be excited to know that LakeAir is looking into a new carbon filter style incorporating up to 3 times more carbon in the same size filter. The model-based assessments have had significant positive results. These projections show a reasonable possibility of reducing the amount of odor removed in a single pass. Look for these new carbon filters in the 2nd quarter of 2024.

Longer lasting Carbon Filter

Some air purifier manufacturers employ a deep filter bed design for odor mitigation. The air stream is passed over beds of activated carbon, which can have larger capacities. The VOCs come into contact on one face of the bed, which provides a much smaller surface for adsorption. The VOCs are drawn down into the filter bed through diffusion. Eventually, all the filter adsorbing media will be filled. 

This can be a good option in an environment where odor control is of moderate concern. However, in a room where a great deal of odor is being generated (like a cigar room), this may not provide enough immediate odor mitigation. Just because a product boasts a 17-pound carbon filter does not mean it will necessarily remove smoke and other odors better than a product with a smaller carbon filter capacity.

The image below illustrates that odor molecules cling to the top of the filter bed. Odor is slowly drawn away deep into the filter bed by the property of diffusion. This provides a slower  but longer-lasting odor-removal process.

Comparing the Cost of Smoke Eaters and Filter Maintenance

Comparing the cost of air purifiers for smoke is an inexact science. For some customers, the initial cost is paramount. For others, the cost of maintenance is first on their mind.  In reality, a customer should first weigh the product’s ability to do the job well. Below, we will present the data in 2 ways. In the left column, we will sort all the units of the same model featured on this page by Unit costs. In the right-hand column, we will sort the units of the same model featured on this page by the cost of estimated filter maintenance.

It should be noted that these numbers do not take into account extra heavy use, like you would find in a bustling cigar lounge, or extra odorous usage, like what might be found in a cannabis consumption lounge. The comparison does not consider the cost of your labor to wash an electrostatic filter cell. 

Because a pre-filter is usable for several years and some units do not require one, the cost of occasional pre-filter replacement is not added to the data. However, a couple of methods can reduce the cost of replacement filters. These reductions are not covered in this data but will be presented in the next section.

Flush IN the Ceiling:

The traditional mounting type for smoke eaters is flush within a drop celling. This designs allows the smoke air purifier to sit in a ceiling grid. The unit should be supported independently. The drop ceiling is not meant to support any weight beyond that of its ceiling tiles. 

Quite often LAFC-RC2  is mounted flush in a drywall ceiling. This unit is well suited for flush in the ceiling mounting. The easy to repair design allows for repairs to be made without needing to remove the unit from its mounting place.

Another benefit to in ceiling mounting is a reduction in unit noise. Customers have told us they have been able to reduce unit noise by as much as 25%.

Flush TO the Ceiling:

Flush to Ceiling mounting is achieved with specially designed brackets that attach directly to the smoke removal unit. The unit can then be mounted to the ceiling rafters. This bracket is set at a standard commercial rafter spacing of 24 inch on center. This Bracket allow the LAFC to be mounted on a ceiling and only extend down 12″

Flush in the Wall:

Wall Mount on Bracket:

 

Occasionally the best place to mount a smoke eliminator is right on the wall. This seems to be more of the case in commercial work setting more than a smoking establishment. The wall mount bracket is made from extra heavy gauge steel to all the unit to hand from the bracket arms. The air purifier for smoke is placed so the flow of air moves along the wall. The filter access panel must face away from the wall to to allow for filter maintenance.

Table Top Placement:

 

LakeAir’s first smoke eliminator product was the Maxum. It started with another name but it is very close to the same design. For the best effect you should always put your smoke removal equipment as close to the source of the smoke as possible. Placing your table top unit next to the ashtray is an awesome way to get rid of smoke and it odor quickly. Models Maxum, Maxum HEPA and MAX 700 are all table top smoke air purifiers.

Portable Floor air purifier for smoke :

 

The MAX Guard is a large portable air purifier for smoke. It can deliver up to 1500 CFM of smoke removal power in a portable platform. This is a heady duty model built on 4 casters. The MAX Guard can be rolled from room to room. Remember placing  your air purifier as close to the source of the smoke will give you the greatest success.

The LAAS line of ducted smoke removal air purifiers offer numerous filter options. Whether you want to focus on HEPA or electrostatic smoke removal the LAAS offers in line solutions. These units contain their own blower sections so there is never any adverse effects from additional back pressure. 

Installing the unit without filters allows them to act as booster to maintain air flow in long duct legs where air flow loss due to friction is an issue.

Ducted “by-pass” smoke purification :

 

Most times a HVAC system is not built to add HEPA filtration to it. By using the LAAS  as a by pass system, dirty air can be pulled out of the supply duct, purified and then re introduced further down the length of the duct. The amount air taken out of the supply duct is equal to the amount put back in. This keeps the entire system in balance. A by-pass system does not add strain to your HVAC systems blower while providing a good volume of clean air for your home or business.

If you have worked your way down this page to this section you have been given a great deal of information. If your project is small, requiring only 1 unit the choice is likely simple. You can now purchase that product with great confidence. You know what the right product is. You know what your replacement filter cost will be. It’s when you are looking at a larger project that the decision on what and how many units you should buy becomes less clear. Lets take a little time to review some of the information covered on this page to hopefully bring and intelligent choice into focus.

CFM Required

If you used the calculators you have a good estimation of the amount of air purification you need. let me add here that the numbers presented are estimates. They are good estimates but there is wiggle room. Don’t be afraid to stray from the recommendation by 10 or even 15%. Every room is a space unto itself. it is unlikely 15% variance is going to make so great a difference that you will be unhappy with your choice. If you don’t like risks lean to the generous side of the estimates, but don’t be afraid to make a choice. Talk over your discoveries with a knowledgeable person. Sadly after reading all the information you will probably be the most knowledgeable person you know. Please call our customer service line. Filter Type

Choosing the best filter type is very much a matter of personal preference. Both HEPA and Electrostatic filtration are good choices. If you wash your filters often an electrostatic filter will do the job as well for you as a HEPA. If getting someone to wash the filters will be an issue, then choose HEPA. Here is a thing we don’t talk much about on this website. while an electrostatic filter can produce 1500 CFM of air flow and a HEPA unit will produce only 900, in our calculations we give HEPA filtration a 25% bonus. Overall it produces 25% cleaner air even though its rating difference is only 3%. You can nearly substitute one for the other. Both systems are great, choose the one that matches your style best.

Odor Control

While it is very important to choose good odor control, you can pretty much always upgrade your choice. Every unit we have either has or will have better odor control options. If your budget only allows standard odor control, choose it. We use fast acting carbon filters that do a great job. If your choice is not robust enough it will only mean buy carbon filters more often. 

Another great piece of news is the future. We are currently working on new odor control filters that will allow 2 times more odor control for less than double the money. This means that the products you buy today will be able to be equipped with odor control filters in the future that will be better and won’t break the bank.

Smoke Eater Trouble Shooting

Smoke removal equipment is not a cheap endeavor. It is very frustrating when it does not work as expected. Our troubleshooter page provides great detail on how to troubleshoot problems with your equipment. We will spend a few brief moments on it here as well.

Top Causes of Trouble

  • Dirty Filters
  • Bad Power Supply
  • Constant Arcing
  • Bad Blowers and Fans

Dirty Filters:

The leading cause of your smoke removal equipment not working as you would like is dirty filters. HEPA filters should be replaced at least once a year. Electrostatic filters should be washed every 8-12 weeks.  Holding to this schedule can greatly reduce equipment problems. 

Bad Power Supply:

If your electrostatic filter’s power supply is weak or broken, the filter cell will not get enough voltage to function. Most electrostatic filters require 5000 to 15000 volts to work properly. You will need professional equipment to test a power supply. If your electrostatic cell has a weak or no spark, consider having an expert test the power supply’s function.

Constant Arcing:

If your smoke’s electrostatic cell is acting like a bug zapper, it is either dirty or damaged. Wash the filter cell and look for bent filter plates, broken wires, or damaged insulators. All of these issues can lead to malfunctioning air purifying equipment.

Bad Blowers or Fans:

A weak fan is another issue that will prevent your smoke purifiers from working well. Removing smoke from the air requires a great deal of air flow, and your unit should be moving a large amount of air. As motors age, they become weaker. Just to let you know, an old fan cannot power your smoke removal equipment correctly.

Ventilation Can Reduce Equipment Costs

From a cost-savings perspective, Ventilation is best used in addition to air purification. Ventilation should remove dangerous gasses that cannot be filtered out. A great smoke eater system can remove smoke and odor but not freshen the air. That’s another job for the ventilation component of your air purification system.

Ventilation and air purification work together. Any good smoking room or lounge should use both. The trick is to understand how much of each to use. Many people believe that 100% ventilation is the only way to create a truly superior smoking environment. The truth is that a proper balance of air purification and ventilation leads to a better environmental experience.

The Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee tried an experiment. They added 12 LakeAir Smoke Eaters to the smoking section of the casino. After a six-month trial with a mixture of Air purification and ventilation, the bean counters wanted to try maintaining the smoking section with 100% air exchange and save on filter replacement costs. After six months with HVAC only, they asked to go back to the mixed system.

Potawatomi Casino is very mindful of customer comfort and the total casino experience. Management of this OK casino felt strongly that the air quality was dramatically better with mixed Air Purification and Ventilation. Not only did the mixed ventilation provide a better experience, but it was also more cost-effective.

When properly sized, your Ventilation will be able to come to your rescue when the amount of smoke quickly increases. The Sunset Cigar Lounge opened in Henderson, Nevada, in early 2025. At its soft opening, it had more visitors than it had anticipated. 

Fifty-two smokers can create quite a cloud of smoke. Tommy, the shop owner/manager,  turned up the Make-Up air unit (LAC-MUA), and within 3 minutes, the air was clear again. This is a prime example of ventilation working with air purification to maintain air quality in a premium cigar lounge.

Cost Comparison Ventilation Alone VS Air Purification/ Ventilation Mix

Case Study: We were approached by a prospective customer who is renovating an existing space and wants to open an upscale cigar lounge on the second floor of a successful business. 

The municipal planning board told them they would need to provide 100% air exchange or develop a ventilation plan that met the IMC (International Contractor’s Code) Rev 2021. LakeAir provided them with a plan that included ventilation and removing smoke and odor. The city inspectors accepted the plan we offered.

 The Image to the right is part of LakeAir’s Air Purification and Ventilation Plan. If the club’s owners had gone with a 100% air exchange system, the HVAC system alone would have cost between $40,000 and $50,000, plus an ongoing monthly cost of $900.00 for filters and utilities. This is in addition to the expense of the space itself. 

The Air Purification system we recommended was $22,000.00 in equipment costs and $775.00 monthly to cover filter replacements and utilities. While both options create an excellent smoking environment, the LakeAir system offers savings of over $20,00.00 in equipment and $2700.00 in annual maintenance savings.

Great In Hot and Cold Environments

If your shop is in Texas, Florida, Georgia, or any other cold state, the ability to purify the air rather than dump it outside makes a difference. I have had the Maxum in my home for approximately 6 months. I bought the Maxum because my husband smokes two packs of cigarettes a day and I smoke half pack. I noticed a difference in the air from the first day I turned it on. The filter that came with Maxum worked just great through the winter. This Spring I decided to get the larger filter. I haven’t had a chance to try out the new filter yet because I had some problems installing it. I have to say the people at LakeAir went over 110% to help me fix the problem. For those of you that still smoke in your home, I would highly recommend the Maxum to rid your home of the odors from smoking. My home is approximately 1000 sq ft and the Maxum covers that area with no problem.

 Electrostatic Smoke eaters have the benefit of being able to clean and reuse the filter. So I thought I would give it a try I purchased the MAX-700 cigar air purifier for my cigar room. They were available to answer all my questions and concerns, shipped the product to me quickly and I was able to unbox and plug in the unit in no time with no effort.

 The MAX-700 Smoke Eater handles the smoke and removes all the cigar odor in my room including the residual order left over the next day.
